School Site Council (SSC) & English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

School Site Council (SSC)

What is the SSC?

The SSC is a decision-making body that is comprised of parents, teachers, staff and the school principal.  The SSC members develop the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) which drives the instruction, assessment and resources for the school.  The SSC takes recommendations from the ELAC but has final decision-making powers for the SPSA as well as Title 1 budget and spending allocations.

Who can be a part of it?

Members of the SSC are selected by their peers to represent the different stakeholders at the school (parents, teachers, and other staff).  The principal is also a member of the SSC.  Any parent who has a child at the school may be voted in on the SSC.

Why should I join?

You can take an active role in your school's decision-making process.  This includes decisions for the instructional and assessment practices of the school, Title 1 budget and spending allocations, and advocate for the needs of all students.
